Carole Joyce, Director of the Roy W. Dean Film Grants, has nearly 30 years experience mentoring independent filmmakers to help them get their films funded.
Each year, From the Heart Productions reviews hundreds of independent film projects each year. They come from those seeking the Roy W. Dean Film Grant and fiscal sponsorship to get the funds to create or finish their film.
Each is offered a consultation with Carole Joyce.

Carole Joyce Biography
From the Heart has assisted hundreds of documentary, feature, short films and web series in accessing capital, and offers advice on creating trailers, fine tuning pitches and building communities around films. Some of their seminal works have been featured on PBS, Discovery Channel and other major national and foreign TV stations.
Carole has almost 30 years of experience in the film, documentary and promotional events industries. She is an award-winning filmmaker for her documentary, “Survivors”, and also produced “Filmmakers”, which is now in the national archives. As a television producer, Carole has overseen the production of more than 150 shows for cable television, including “Healthstyles”, which was used as a concept on Oprah Winfrey. Guests included Deepak Chopra and Dr. Andrew Weil.
Carole began her entertainment industry career working with Haim Saban, founder of Saban Entertainment. The firm discovered talents such as Dennis Leary and Mario Joiner, and she helped to develop pilot television series for Joy Behar and Rita Rudner.
While with Garamella/Fitzgerald Advertising Agency, Carole developed projects for young filmmakers David Fincher and Jessie Dylan. She has worked with Edgar J. Scherick, former President of Fox, in developing network shows. Carole has also worked with Directors David Fincher, Mark Romanek and Jesse Dylan, and with clients such as Madonna and Michael Jackson.
Carole was a Vice President Studio Film & Tape, one of the leading distributors of film stock to independent filmmakers. The company’s annual sales exceeded ten million dollars. It was one of the largest privately woman-owned businesses in the U.S>
She is a strong advocate of conscious capitalism which serves the interests of all major stakeholders – customers, employees, investors, communities, suppliers and the environment.
Carole received a Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated with honors from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura, California.
