About the Filmmaker

Sara Jane Walsh — Director
Sara Jane Walsh grew up with undiagnosed autism and mental illness, often feeling disconnected from the world around her. She found solace in storytelling and spent her youth acting, writing, and directing plays. After a severe mental health decline in 2015, she faced profound struggles, including periods of being nonverbal. Her healing began when she connected with families raising chronically ill children—families whose love, resilience, and joy in adversity mirrored her own journey.
For the past decade, Sara has volunteered her time creating music videos using families’ home footage, giving them comfort and visibility. Now stable and able to manage her conditions, she is committed to bringing these powerful stories to a wider audience. The Here’s Hope Project marks the beginning of that mission.
