We can help you in a few ways. One is with the Roy W. Dean Grant. It offers a package of $30K in cash and film services to start or complete your film. Or, From The Heart can be your fiscal sponsor. That would allow you to apply for many other grants. It would also allow donors to get tax deductions for their donations to your project. From The Heart is also a partner with Indiegogo. We could help you in a crowdfunding campaign on their platform. If you need more information, please contact Carole at caroleedean@att.net

The company is extremely active in mentoring the youth of the Eastern Cape province, specifically in the Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan area.
My question is if we are eligible to request development grants from your organisation.

    Thank you

Yes, you are eligible for our Roy W. Dean Grant. However, some of the donations are for services that you may not be able to take advantage of. Please read the list of donations and apply if you think it can benefit you.

  3. To whom it may concern, I am looking to finance my first full length film which deals with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease and it’s devastating affects on one’s family members. I have an award winning director connected to the project and very little funding. This film can reach a mass audience and really make a difference several individuals completely feel but the funding is all that is holding me back from getting started. I don’t know a lot about grant writing and so I was inquiring as to just exactly how your fiscal sponsorship works? Any info. is immensely appreciated. Many thanks. Very sincerely, Sandy Slaven

Dear Susan, your film sounds like it is needed and can make a contribution to society. We have the third chapter of my book, The Art of Film Funding on the web site. That is how to write a proposal for a documentary film. Go to more information, film financing, writing a proposal. With our fiscal sponsorship, you can get help with your proposals. We read and give you advice on improving them and read your grant proposals before submission. All of this is free with our fiscal sponsorship.

This project is aim at world wide market. This project is more than just a film.In producing this film the local people in the area can get envolved in the production of the film through various ways. By being extras on set, building sets and be envolved with the catering it will help eliviate poverty in the area. After the film is completed an eco tourism business can be establish in this area by useing the sets of the film. As you can see this is a major project and it need help.

  11. Am new here and am posting to get help even though I know much there’s always room to lean, I want to do a feature length documentary in the South East Africa region and I was approached to do a proposal after meeting with one the grantors or inventors.
It’s actually my first big production am undertaking and to make matters hard am actually 21 so yes I believe in some way, other investors will mainly look at my age and experience and dub me unfit for such a production.
Am passionate about what I do from the creative side and the programming aspect. What am asking for is guidance when I write the proposal through the budgets and wording. My documentary is compelling that I know it’s the defining chapter yet the beginning, please guys I ask for your talents and capacities to help me define a chapter.

    1. Hi Bryan,

We sincerely apologize for not responding sooner. Our comment section and website has been the target of spammers and we are just getting it resolved. Passion for a project is a major component of making a film and getting it funded. So, you are a major part of the way there in accomplishing both. For help on your proposal, you might want to consider a personal consultation with Carole Dean. She’s read thousands of proposals submitted to the Roy W. Dean Grant and is an expert in what makes a great proposal. Or, you could become part of her Guardian Angel Program which also provides a package of personal consultations at a reduced rate. If you are not sure what is right for you, its ok to email her as well at info@fromtheheartproductions.com
